About SMP
Being available for over ten years now, SMP is proving to be the best option due to its’ non invasive  application, long lasting results and easy maintenance and it’s becoming increasingly popular winning over other available hair loss solutions.

Scalp Micro Pigmentation Procedure

SMP is a specially developed non-surgical treatment to simulate hair stubble or in some cases to create a higher optical density of the hair. With highly skilled application SMP can give a perfect shaven look hair simulation that is undetectable and looks completely natural, or applied to add the visual thickness in cases of thinning hair.
It is a method of depositing pigment into the dermal layer of the skin on the scalp, which replicates hair follicle or form of cosmetic semi permanent tattooing. With use of specially formulated inks and the depth at which ink is deposited, risk of discoloration is minimised and the colours are maintained for many years before a touch up procedure is needed.

How long does the procedure take?

Scalp Micro Pigmentation Procedure is normally completed in three sessions with 12 days or two weeks period between them needed for the skin to heal and colour to set in. However, every skin is different and depending on skin characteristics, for example how oily or dry the skin is, skin tone and person’s lifestyle, more sessions might be required. First session can take about 3-4 hours to complete while subsequent visits are shorter.

How do you decide on the front hairline?

When deciding on the hairline the main thing is to achieve the natural look that suits individual facial features. We can discuss different hairlines from the pictures and draw a hairline for you to see. When doing hairlines it is always best to play it safe and not go too low on the first treatment so that on next visit you can decide on how low you want to go.

How will you get the right colour shade?

The first treatment is done slightly lighter to see how the pigment settles in the scalp, then on second treatment the colour can be left as it is or altered if needed to darker shade.

Is the procedure painful?

If completed correctly, procedure should not be painful and it is only a small amount of discomfort you will feel from the needle incisions that are made at 0.5 mm depth (as comparison tattoo ink is inserted at 3 mm depth).

How will I look immediately after the procedure?

Following the treatment, there is some redness of the skin for anywhere between 2-10 hours, depending on your skin type. The pigment’s initial colour will appear somewhat darker than the ‘cured’ result that is visible after about 12 days.

How long is my new look going to last?

By correctly following the aftercare advice, for example using protection against sun exposure, sun beds or chlorine present in swimming pools, on average SMP should last three to five years or longer before touch up procedure is needed.
